The Missing Child Was Also Featured on the March 10 Broadcast of
CBS NEWS' "THE EARLY SHOW"
This Marks the Second Time a Missing Person Has Been Found
As a Result of a "Without a Trace" Profile
An 18-month-old girl was located yesterday in Tarrant, Ala. as a direct result from viewer tips after she was profiled as a missing person during the March 9 broadcast of the CBS Thursday night drama WITHOUT A TRACE. The missing girl, Anisa Jackson, was also featured on CBS News' "The Early Show" on March 10.
The recovery of Jackson and the arrest of her parental kidnapper, Phillip Jerome Jackson, 26, who disappeared with the child on Dec. 20, 2005, was announced by Carmen S. Adams, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI in Birmingham, Ala.
The father was arrested without incident by members of the FBI Birmingham Violent Crimes Joint Task Force at a residence on Hill Drive in Tarrant, Ala. His daughter was recovered unharmed at the time of the arrest.
The Federal Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution warrant was based on a Jan. 13, 2006 warrant from a Pennsylvania magistrate, which charged Jackson with kidnapping and other related offenses involving the taking of the child from the custody of her mother.
This marks the second time a missing person has been found as a direct result of one of WITHOUT A TRACE's profiles. In July 2005, 8-year-old Nicholas Antonio Candela and his 7-year-old sister Gio' Annah were located in Tuckahoe, N.Y., after a WITHOUT A TRACE viewer provided information to the FBI.
Prior to the September 2002 premiere of WITHOUT A TRACE, a fictional drama about the missing persons unit of the FBI, CBS joined forces with the agency to profile a new missing person each week, even during rebroadcasts. Each broadcast since the series' premiere has featured a PSA asking for the public's help to find a real-life missing person. The PSA includes a picture and descriptive information about a missing person with a message asking viewers to call their nearest FBI office if they have seen the person or have any information relevant to the case.
WITHOUT A TRACE stars Anthony LaPaglia as the head of the Missing Persons Squad of the FBI. The sole responsibility of this special task force is to find missing persons by applying advanced psychological profiling techniques to peel back the layers of the victims' lives and trace their whereabouts in an effort to discover whether they have been abducted, murdered, committed suicide or simply run-away. The series also stars Poppy Montgomery, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Enrique Murciano and Eric Close.
WITHOUT A TRACE is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television, in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Paramount Television.
