FOX KEEPS IT HOT THIS MAY WITH THE ULTIMATE FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE LINEUP!
Four-Week Lineup Features Five World Broadcast Premieres Including a Two-and-a-Half-Hour Broadcast of SCHOOL OF ROCK, Hosted by Jack Black
The four-week forecast on FOX is looking HOT, HOT, HOT! FOX celebrates the sunny weather with a huge roster of theatrical hits this May, including World Broadcast Premieres on four consecutive Fridays, and a huge three-movie marathon on Memorial Day weekend, featuring the star power of Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon, Halle Berry, Jack Black, Kirsten Dunst, Paul Walker and Jackie Chan.
Superstar comedian Jack Black hosts the special two-and-a-half-hour World Broadcast Premiere of SCHOOL OF ROCK Friday, May 5 (8:00-10:30 PM ET/PT). Black talks about his favorite SCHOOL OF ROCK scenes, reminisces about shooting the box office smash and, as an added Cinco de Mayo bonus, rolls out the World Premiere trailer of his new Paramount Pictures film, "Nacho Libre." In SCHOOL OF ROCK, Dewey Finn (Black) is down on his luck. Kicked out of his rock band, flat broke and lacking any job skills whatsoever, he fakes his way into a job as a substitute fourth-grade teacher at a stuffy private school. Instead of teaching the curriculum, Dewey tutors the kids in the subject nearest and dearest to his heart rock 'n' roll!
On Friday, May 12 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), FOX airs the World Broadcast Premiere of LEGALLY BLONDE 2: RED, WHITE & BLONDE. When Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) is fired from her job at a law firm for expressing her concerns over animal testing, she heads to Washington, DC, to fight for the cause on Capitol Hill. With a little help from the doorman at the Watergate Hotel (Bob Newhart), Elle attempts to persuade disillusioned Rep. Victoria Rudd (Sally Field) to let her be heard in front of the legislative branch. Regina King, Jennifer Coolidge and Luke Wilson also star.
To get fans primed for the upcoming release of X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, FOX airs the World Broadcast Premiere of X2: X-MEN UNITED on Friday, May 19 (8:00-10:30 PM ET/PT). Already living in a society that mistrusts them, the mutants are faced with even more discrimination after an unforeseen enemy launches a devastating attack, causing public outcry and renewed support for the Mutant Registration Act.
William Stryker (Brian Cox) puts into motion a plan to eradicate the mutants and begins an offensive on the X-Men. Magneto (Ian McKellen) and Xavier (Patrick Stewart) form an unlikely alliance, and with the fates of Xavier, mankind and mutantkind in their hands, the X-Men face their most dangerous mission yet. Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, James Marsden, Anna Paquin and Rebecca Romijn also star.
Get ready for a heat wave during FOX's Memorial Day weekend three-movie marathon! In the World Broadcast Premiere of MONA LISA SMILE, airing Friday, May 26 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), Julia Roberts stars as Katherine Watson, a free-spirited college graduate, who lands her dream job as an art teacher at the prestigious all-girls Wellesley College in 1953. Determined to confront the outdated mores of society and the institution that embraces them, Katherine inspires her traditional students to challenge the lives they are expected to lead. She not only butts heads with college administrators who object to progressive ideas, but also with some ultra-conservative students who firmly believe a woman's role is to be a wife and mother. Kirsten Dunst, Julia Stiles and Maggie Gyllenhaal also star.
FOX airs the World Broadcast Premiere of 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS on Monday, May 29 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). In this follow-up to 2001's "The Fast and the Furious," Paul Walker returns as former cop Brian O'Conner, who teams up with his pal, ex-con Roman Pearce (Tyrese), to transport a shipment of "dirty" money for shady Miami-based import-export dealer Carter Verone (Cole Hauser), while actually working with undercover agent Monica Fuentes (Eva Mendes) to bring Verone down.
SHANGHAI KNIGHTS, making its FOX Network Premiere Tuesday, May 30 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), is the follow-up to 2000's "Shanghai Noon." Chon (Jackie Chan) and Roy (Owen Wilson) head to London to find the rebel who murdered Chon's father, and shake up Victorian Britain in the process. Chon's sister, Lin (Fann Wong), also thirsty for vengeance, stumbles into what appears to be a conspiracy to off the royal family.
