AMERICA TELLS KATHY GRIFFIN THAT RELEASING A SEX TAPE WITH DAME JUDI DENCH WILL GET HER OFF THE D-LIST!
BRAVO VOTING CAMPAIGN GENERATES ALMOST A QUARTER MILLION VOTES FOR THE A-LIST STUNT KATHY NEEDS TO TACKLE IF SHE WANTS OFF THE D-LIST
WINNING TASK TO BE STREAMED EXCLUSIVELY ON BRAVOTV.COM
NEW YORK -- June 7, 2006 -- America has spoken! Out of nearly a quarter million votes, almost 40% think the always irreverent comedian Kathy Griffin should release a sex tape with Dame Judi Dench if she wants off the D-List for good.
Timed to coincide with June 6th second season launch of "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List," (9:00 pm ET/PT), Bravo launched a campaign to help get Kathy off the D-List once and for all. Almost 40% of Kathy's supporters, who voted online at offthedlist.com and through a toll free number (1-888-kathydlist), have agreed that the sex tape is the way to go; Griffin had agreed to try and accomplish one of four tasks, all of which were sure to help her reach A-list status. The breakdown of the rest of the voting is as follows: 24% have asked that Kathy follow in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie and adopt a baby in Namibia; 20% think that giving Ryan Seacrest a mani/pedi would get her off the D-list; and 17% of Americans thought that Kathy should join Scientology.
Beginning today, Griffin's tongue-in-cheek attempt to follow through on following America's advice will be streamed exclusively on Bravotv.com.
The action-packed new season of "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List" unfolds over six one-hour episodes airing Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m. on Bravo. This season Kathy endures hellish moments with her personal trainer and nutritionist, hires a dog trainer in an attempt to get Chance and Pom-Pom under control, attends a gay prom, baby sits for her niece and nephew, takes her parents away for a luxury weekend, goes ice skating with Olympian Johnny Weir, and tours the Red States.
One of the more exciting moments during the season is when Kathy travels to Iraq to entertain the troops at various camps. She wins soldiers over at every stop with her no-holds-barred humor, and is won over herself by the courageous young men and women who welcome her with open arms. As if suddenly vaulted to the A-List, Kathy is even granted her own gun-toting escorts for the journey. Kathy also encounters hard-working Army dogs in Kuwait, who were noticeably better trained than Pom-Pom.
Six, one-hour episodes of Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List were produced for Bravo by Picture This Productions. The series is executive produced by Marcia Mule, Brian Scott, Lisa M. Tucker, and Kathy Griffin.
