LOS ANGELES, July 13, 2006 -- COMEDY CENTRAL is bringing comedic veterans Dave (Gruber) Allen and David Koechner and their off-beat, outrageous stage personas to television in a free-wheeling weekly roundup of their cross-country adventures in the "The Naked Trucker & T-Bones Show." With a live audience, twisted tales of the heartland, social commentary and original tunes, this is subversive, "high-low-brow" comedy where anything can happen.
The six-episode series is based on the successful and long-running comedy show performed at the COMEDY CENTRAL Stage and other venues in Los Angeles. The show's format will feature in-studio segments, taped remotes on the road, recurring characters and musical performances. "The Naked Trucker & T-Bones Show" premieres on Thursday, October 12 at 10:30 p.m.
Dave (Gruber) Allen ("Higgins Boys and Gruber," "Freaks and Geeks") portrays The Naked Trucker as a long-haul driver in search of freedom and who drives nude simply because he can. Fueled by cold beer and hot coffee, he is a voice of reason preaching the gospel of "live and let live" in a world of "us versus them." David Koechner ("Anchorman," "Thank You For Smoking") plays Gerald "T-Bones" Tibbons, The Trucker's sidekick, a freeloader who's always working an angle and is as smart as a whip and not afraid to use one. Together, both characters serve as the viewers' guide to the open road telling twisted tales from the highways and truck stops across America and celebrating freedom any way they want to.
"The Naked Trucker and T-Bones are two outrageous, loveable characters with enormous chemistry," said Lauren Corrao, executive vice president of original programming and development. "With the no-rules nature of the show, they can proudly state the unvarnished truth to reveal something essential about the way we live today."
Allen and Koechner executive produce the show with Norman Hiscock ("Kids in the Hall," "King of the Hill"), Donick Cary ("The Simpsons," "The Late Show with David Letterman"), and JP Williams ("Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie") also serving as executive producers. Scott Landsman and Zoe Friedman are executives in charge of production for COMEDY CENTRAL.
