IFC Premieres Two New Original Programs Friday, August 4th
The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman and The Business
IFC will reinforce its commitment to original programming with two new original scripted series, The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman and The Business, premiering back-to-back on Friday, August 4 starting at 11 pm ET/PT. The two new series, both picked up for eight half-hour episodes, will air as part of the network's "Film Fanatic Fridays" destination that is currently sponsored by Heineken.
The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodmanis an uncomfortable, herky-jerky romp through today's Hollywood, courtesy of Jackie Woodman and her best friend, Tara: two single women trying to carve their niche in Tinsel Town (and a few bedposts). When this loveable, barely functional duo shoots themselves in the foot, they're likely to hit an innocent bystander, then stroll into a Melrose boutique, totally oblivious to the damage they've wrought. Jackie - a writer for a low-impact indie film rag - and her film school pal Tara Wentzel - who's clinging to the bottom rung at a film production company, are determined to persevere against all logic, armed with only their willful ignorance, fleeting confidence and poor judgment. The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman is created by and stars Laura Kightlinger. The series is directed by Adam Kassen and Executive Produced by Bob Balaban, Laura Kightlinger, David Punch, Adam Kassen and Mark Kassen.
From the team that brought The Festival to IFC, The Business follows the same ensemble cast of characters on another misadventure in indie film-land. This time we journey outside the precious confines of the Mountain United Film Festival (MUFF) and onto the gritty set of a new indie feature. The eclectic group of characters will embark on a ridiculous journey with one unified goal: to make a movie. The Business stars Kathleen Robertson and is produced by Brandi-Ann Milbradt and directed by Phil Price.
