NEW YORK, August 15, 2005COMEDY CENTRAL Roasters propelled Shatner into a new atmosphere with a barrage of attacks on every topic from his age, his acting and his large repertoire of bombs, at the "COMEDY CENTRAL Roast of William Shatner." The event kickedoff with Shatner riding in on a white horse to thunderous applause. Shatner then assumed the position of Roastee while seated on stage in the original "Star Trek Enterprise" Captain Kirk chair. The hits just kept on coming. Shatner was the target of brutal strikes by comedians and friends such as Sandra Bullock, Andy Dick, Greg Giraldo, Lisa Lampanelli, Jeff Ross, Ben Stiller, George Takei and many others. Roast Master Jason Alexander served up his own zingers at everyone's expense that kept the crowd laughing the whole evening. The show taped on August 13 in Los Angeles at CBS Studios and will air as a 90minute special. "The COMEDY CENTRAL Roast of William Shatner" will debut on Sunday, August 20 at 10:00 p.m.

Encore presentations will air Sunday, August 20 at 11:30 p.m., 1:00 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., Monday, August 21 at 12:00 a.m., Friday, August 25 at 12:00 a.m., Sunday August 27 at 11:30 p.m. and Monday, September 4 at 10:00 p.m.

Highlights from the evening include: Giraldo kicked off the Roast by ripping Shatner's hairline and taking jabs at Mel Gibson; an animated Andy Dick went on a licking spree that stunned the crowd, then dressed up as Leonard Nimoy and did a dramatic reading; Betty White showed her true colors using words so blue that the audiences' faces turned red; George Takei covered his own ass, literally, on the stage and Lisa Lampanelli, the Queen of Mean, took a licking from Andy Dick as she unleashed a verbal assault on everyone in attendance and brought the crowd to its feet.
