"THE MEGAN MULLALLY SHOW" SET TO LAUNCH IN NATIONAL SYNDICATION ON MONDAY SEPTEMBER 18th
Megan's First Guests Include Will Ferrell, Patricia Heaton, Felicity Huffman, Eva Mendes, Carol Burnett, George Lopez, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lisa Kudrow, Debra Messing and Many More
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- September 13, 2006 -- NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution's "The Megan Mullally Show" is sold in more than 95% of the U.S. for its Monday, Sept. 18 in national syndication with an exciting first wave of celebrity guests and a mix of everyday people doing extraordinary things.
Among those already booked for the show's opening first weeks include Will Ferrell, Felicity Huffman, Jenny McCarthy, Patricia Heaton, Carol Burnett, George Lopez, Julia-Louis Dreyfus, Lisa Kudrow, Virginia Madsen, Omar Epps, Eva Mendes, Rainn Wilson and Mullally's former co-star on "Will & Grace," Debra Messing.
Inspired by classic talk and variety shows, but with a distinctly modern-day sensibility, "The Megan Mullally Show" will tip its hat to cross-generational audiences this season. Two-time Emmy Award-winner Megan Mullally, coming off eight seasons as wisecracking socialite Karen Walker on NBC's "Will & Grace," moves into the driver's seat as host for this daytime talk show. Corin Nelson, veteran daytime producer and winner of five Emmy Awards as show-runner on "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," serves as Executive Producer.
NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution, the studio behind such series as "Access Hollywood," and Emmy-nominated "Martha," distributes this one-hour daily talk/variety program. Based in Los Angeles, the nationally syndicated strip marks a culmination of both Mullally's childhood dreams and professional talents, and will incorporate aspects from some of America's greatest talk and variety shows of the past.
The multi-talented Mullally has been entertaining audiences for over two decades. She shared the Broadway stage with Rosie O'Donnell in a 1994 production of Grease, and earned kudos the following year opposite Matthew Broderick in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. An equal passion of Mullally's is music, and, as founder and lead singer of the band Supreme Music Program, she has performed at such prestigious venues as The Kennedy Center, Chicago's Goodman Theater and New York's Lincoln Center.
It's been her award-winning work in television, however, that has endeared Mullally to millionsfrom a series regular role on the mid-80s sitcom "The Ellen Burstyn Show," to guest star spots on "Seinfeld," "Frasier" and other series, to her signature role on "Will & Grace." Along with her two Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, she has also earned an American Comedy Award for Funniest Supporting Female Performer in a TV Series and three back-to-back SAG Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.
"The Megan Mullally Show" will be an entertaining hour featuring a mix of celebrities, real people, music and comedy. Megan will interview top celebrities and also introduce the world to guests of all kindsfrom quirky characters to funny kids to offbeat experts. Led by a host who is warm, witty and relatable, "The Megan Mullally Show" will bring the best of classic and current talk-variety television to the daytime audience this fall.
