'NBC SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL' WEEK 2 UP 14% FROM 2005
18.4 Million Viewers Tune In To Cowboys Rout
NEW YORK Sept. 18, 2006 Last night's "NBC Sunday Night Football" Washington-Dallas matchup averaged 18.4 million viewers, up 14 percent from last year's second "Monday Night Football" game (16.1 million), which also featured the Redskins at the Cowboys, according to fast national data from Nielsen Media Research. The game scored an 11.9 household rating/19 share, up 10 percent and more than a full ratings point from the second "MNF" game last season (10.8/18 on 9/19/05 Washington Dallas). The ratings increase is especially impressive given the Cowboys' lopsided 27-10 win last night, while last year's game featured a Redskins come-from-behind 4th quarter 14-13 victory.
Forty-five million total, unduplicated viewers watched last night's game, up 15 percent from 39 million on "MNF" a year ago.
After three games, "NBC Sunday Night Football" is averaging a 13.0/21, 9 percent higher than "MNF" after three games in 2005 (11.9/20, averages include Thursday night season openers).
NBC's 11.9/19 "SNF" rating last night is 72 percent higher than the comparable Sunday Night game on ESPN last year (6.9/11 national HH rating, Chiefs-Raiders on 9/18/05).
"NBC Sunday Night Football" (8:15-11:15 p.m. ET) rated 153 percent higher than NBC's 8:30-11 p.m. household rating for the same night last year (4.7) and 270 percent higher in Adults 18-49 (7.4 vs. 2.0).
