SETH MEYERS NAMED "WEEKEND UPDATE" CO-ANCHOR
ON NBC'S "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE"
Season Premiere September 30 With Host Dane Cook And Musical Guest The Killers.
NEW YORK � September 25, 2006 � "Saturday Night Live" returns for its 32nd season on September 30 (NBC, 11:30 p.m. � 1:00 a.m. ET) with a familiar face taking the seat next to Amy Poehler on the show's signature "Weekend Update" segment � Seth Meyers.
Meyers, entering his fifth season on "Saturday Night Live" and his second season as head writer, sharing the title with Andrew Steele and Paula Pell, will join Poehler on the anchor desk of the show's popular recurring segment.
In sketches, Meyers and Poehler have shown tremendous chemistry as "The Needlers � The Couple That Should Be Divorced." In addition, Meyers has performed numerous characters and impressions, most notably, an uncanny portrayal of Senator John Kerry for the show's satire of the 2004 Presidential election.
"Saturday Night Live," which premiered on October 11, 1975, is from SNL Studios in association with Broadway Video. The creator and executive producer is Lorne Michaels. Steve Higgins produces. Marci Klein and Mike Shoemaker are producers. Head writers are Seth Meyers, Paula Pell and Andrew Steele. Don Roy King directs.
