"Gilmore" Builds in Second Half Hour in Key Demos and Viewers
"Gilmore Girls" Lifts Stations in Several Top 10 Markets among Women 18-34 and Adults 18-34
September 27, 2006 (Burbank, CA) - Returning for its seventh season, "Gilmore Girls" made its CW debut ranking third in its target demo of women 18-34 (3.5/10) in the highly competitive 8-9:00PM time period, which includes Fox's "House" and ABC's "Dancing With The Stars," according to preliminary live plus same day Nielsen ratings for Tuesday, Sept 26.
"Gilmore Girls" built in the second half hour across all key demographics and viewers, increasing 15% in adults 18-34, 16% in women 18-34 and adding more than 700,000 viewers at 8:30PM.
In addition to premiering against tough competition, "Gilmore Girls" also moved to a new local station in nearly a third of the U.S.
According to Nielsen data in local peoplemeter markets, "Gilmore Girls" scored for The CW's local stations in the top 10 markets with key demographics.
In women 18-34, "Gilmore Girls" won the 8:00PM hour in New York (5.8/18), Dallas (6.1/19) and Boston (6.7/21). "Gilmore Girls" finished a competitive second in the hour in Chicago (6.0/19) and Philadelphia (5.9/17), beating ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" in those markets.
In adults 18-34, "Gilmore Girls" ranked first at 8:00PM in Dallas (4.0/14), and came in a solid second in Chicago (3.8/13), Philadelphia (4.3/13) and Boston (3.9/12), again beating "Dancing with the Stars."
