'EUREKA' RENEWED FOR SECOND SEASON ON SCI FI
Series Brings Over 5 Million New Viewers to the Channel for SCI FI's Best-Ever Third Quarter!
NEW YORK, NY--October 4, 2006--SCI FI Channel has greenlit production on a second season of its hit Original Series 'Eureka,' ordering 13 new hours of the dramedy, it was announced today by Mark Stern, SCI FI Channel's Executive Vice President of Original Programming. 'Eureka' will begin production on a second season in Vancouver this spring for a summer 2007 return.
'Eureka' is SCI FI's highest-rated, most watched series of 2006, bringing in over 5 million new viewers (P2+) to the Channel through last week's episode. A series about a secret U.S. town full of geniuses, 'Eureka' broke Channel records with its two-hour premiere on July 18. The 'Eureka' premiere remains the highest rated series telecast in SCI FI Channel history. Topping off the Channel's best-ever third quarter in household delivery and total viewers, 'Eureka' scored the following ratings milestones:
--In its first season, 'Eureka' delivered a 2.2 HH rating, 2.7 million P2+ viewers, 1.5 million P25-54 and 1.3 million P18-49.
--'Eureka' outperformed last year's time period average by +175% in HH ratings and +206% in P2+ viewers.
--'Eureka' has been a top five cable program on Tuesday nights nine weeks out of its 12-week run; always remaining inside the top ten.
--Last night's 'Eureka' finale bested the season premiere of the CW's 'Veronica Mars' in key male demos (M18-49, M25-54) and made SCI FI the top ranked cable network in the 9-10p time period, averaging a 1.9 HH rating and 2.4 million viewers (P2+).
'Eureka' is SCI FI's first scripted, Original Series launch since the premiere of the critically acclaimed 'Battlestar Galactica.' In line with SCI FI's mission to broaden the scope and appeal of the Channel, 'Eureka' is an immensely relatable, earth-based dramedy with a unique sci-fi twist. Nestled in the Pacific Northwest, 'Eureka' is a small town with big secrets.
