NEW YORK, October 9, 2006 -- Listen up, Nation! Stephen Colbert's killer lightsaber moves on a green screen were all over the Web this summer. The time has finally come. Colbert will disclose the "winner" of the "Star Wars Green Screen Challenge" on COMEDY CENTRAL's "The Colbert Report" this Wednesday, October 11 at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT.
On August 10, Colbert displayed his lightsaber skills against a green screen. Immediately thereafter, The Nation took the footage and added background and action mostly in the context of "Star Wars." Videos began feverishly appearing all over the Web. On August 21, Colbert featured one of the videos but wasn't convinced that it was the best one out there and thus announced the "Star Wars Green Screen Challenge." "This is an exciting opportunity for our audience to participate in the central mission of this program... making me look heroic," Colbert said, back in August. He urged The Nation to submit their videos to colbertnation.com. Some of the best videos have been posted on the site and have appeared on the show. Colbert will reveal the "winning" video on Wednesday, October 11 at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT.
Repeat episodes air Monday-Thursday at 1:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. and Friday at 8:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. (all times ET/PT). "The Colbert Report" regularly airs Monday-Thursday at 11:30 p.m. following "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart."
"The Colbert Report" is the first project developed under COMEDY CENTRAL's first-look agreement with Jon Stewart's Busboy Productions, Inc. The show is produced by Busboy in association with Spartina Productions, Inc. Stewart, Ben Karlin and Colbert serve as executive producers and Lou Wallach is executive in charge of production for COMEDY CENTRAL.
