NEW YORK March 8, 2007 Bravo's 12-time Emmy-nominated series, "Inside the Actor's Studio" sits down with funny man Chris Rock on Monday, March 12, 2007 from 8-10 p.m. ET/PT. The two-hour special takes an in-depth look at Rock's comedic life as host James Lipton discusses the comedian, writer, producer and director's career. Viewers can catch "Even MoreInside The Actors Studio" at www.bravoTV.com, for exclusive bonus clips of Rock as he commands the stage with his ever-present wit and humor. Photography is available on Media Village at www.nbcmv.com/bravo.

During his wide-ranging interview with Lipton, Rock reveals what life was like as a cast member on "Saturday Night Live," his experience hosting the "77th Annual Academy Awards" and his successful sitcom "Everybody Hates Chris," among other topics. Following are excerpts from the interview.

ON WHERE HE GREW UP: "I lived in two places. First, I lived in Crown Heights, and then we moved to Bed-Stuy. So we moved from the 'hood' to the 'ghetto.'"

ON HIS DREAM GROWING UP: "I wanted to be the President Of The United States."

ON WHAT HIS PARENTS THOUGHT OF HIS CAREER CHOICE: "Fine! He's not selling crack. Thank you, Lord!"

ON MEETING EDDIE MURPHY: "Eddie is my idol. I met Eddie Murphy in 1987, Eddie is cool now, but in '87 it was really Eddie Murphy, with the leather suits, gloves and diamond rings. I met the guy from 'Raw,' I didn't meet 'Dr. Doolittle.'"

ON WHAT MAKES A GOOD COMEDIAN: "It's really about listening. Just shut up and let the people do what they do."

On "Saturday Night Live:" "'Saturday Night Live' was the best time of my life. It was like X-Men School for comedians. When Lorne Michaels [Executive Producer, SNL] shook my hand, I haven't been broke since. I never smelled broke again since I met Lorne Michaels."

On Hosting the Oscars: "I am proud of it. It is the most pressure you will have in your whole life. The opening monologue for the Oscars is harder than playing in the World Series."

On HIS UPCOMING MOVIE "I think I love my Wife:" "This movie seemed like the way to stir it up, to do something real and something that was grounded in reality and not grounded in comedy."

In 1991, Rock released his first comedy album, "Born Suspect." Two years later he starred in his first HBO comedy special titled "Big Ass Jokes." His second 1996 stand-up special "Bring the Pain" reinvented Rock as one of the hottest comedians in the industry. His routine, which featured commentaries on race in America, stirred up a great deal of controversy. Rock has since had two more HBO comedy specials: "Bigger and Blacker" in 1999 and "Never Scared" in 2004. HBO also aired his talk show, "The Chris Rock Show," which gained critical acclaim for Rock's interviews with celebrities and politicians. Rock's television work has earned him three Emmy Awards and 15 nominations for his performing and writing. While Rock has acted in movies since 1987 (beginning with a small role in "Beverly Hills Cop II"), it was not until the success of his stand-up act in the late 1990s that Rock began receiving major parts in films. These include roles in "Dogma," "Lethal Weapon 4," "Nurse Betty" and a starring role in "Down to Earth." Rock has also increasingly worked behind the camera, both as a writer in "CB4" and director of "Head of State" and his upcoming film "I Think I Love My Wife." In the fall of 2005, the UPN television network premiered a comedy series called "Everybody Hates Chris," based on Rock's school days, of which he is the executive producer, writer and narrator. Rock also joined comedy's elite club by hosting the Academy Awards.
