NBC.COM LAUNCHES NEW SOCIAL-NETWORKING TOOLS
Site Becomes First Broadcast Network Site to Introduce True Community Features with Networking Tools
BURBANK, Calif. March 22, 2007 NBC.com announced today the introduction of its new social-networking tools throughout the site, which allow users enhanced control and personalization and creates an unparalleled interactive web experience.
The announcement was made today by Vivi Zigler, Executive Vice President NBC Digital Entertainment and New Media.
"We're tailoring the site to better reflect how users are consuming entertainment today," said Zigler. "By adding these tools, we're allowing fans to create a community around our content, get to know each other, share their ideas and theories and simply have more fun."
The new social-networking tools will allow users to register their preferences at NBC.com, allowing the site to "recognize" them and provide a more personalized experience.
In addition, NBC.com users will now be able to share NBC videos with friends and post them on other blogs and social networking sites. They will also be able to upload and share their own videos and photos, create public profiles about themselves, build their own fan groups around their favorite shows, access community pages from their cell phones and receive video and content recommendations based on the activity of other like-minded users.
