SANTA MONICA, Calif., March 26 -- LINGO will premiere its
sixth season next month, making it the longest running original series at
GSN, the network for games. Legendary host Chuck Woolery returns with
co-host Shandi Finnessey, who is currently starring on "Dancing with the
Stars." The sixth season will premiere Monday, April 2 and will air Monday
through Friday 7:30-8:00 PM, ET.
Host Woolery is known by audiences worldwide for such popular classics
as "Love Connection" and "Greed," both of which air on GSN, in addition to
"Scrabble" and the first seven years of "Wheel of Fortune." Co-host
Finnessey is also host of "quiznation," part of GSN's late night live
PLAYMANIA block. The Miss USA of 2004 is also on the fourth season of
"Dancing with the Stars" and authored a children's book -- The Furrtails --
which she developed to promote the inclusion of individuals with mental
challenges. Originally from Florissant, Missouri, Finnessey hosts a blog
site on gsn.com where fans can hear about her work on all three of her
series.
The new season will also feature a series of episodes in which the
champions of GSN's online LINGO game face off against the best players from
previous television episodes.
LINGO is also expanding its interactive footprint by launching its
third Lingo Online Tournament, also on April 2. Every week for ten weeks,
the top tournament player from the online Lingo game will be awarded a trip
to Los Angeles and be a contestant on an upcoming episode of the show. For
details on the 2007 tournament and photos from 2006 tournament winners
featured on air this season, go online to http://www.GSN.com.
In May, GSN will launch its first-ever Lingo podcast. Podcasts for
other GSN shows, such as HIGH STAKES POKER, rank among Apple's most popular
