Hallmark Channel is proud to announce that "Sacrifices of the Heart," a Hallmark Original Movie based on a script by Patti Davis, daughter of the late President Ronald Reagan, has been awarded The Dove Foundation's "Family Approved" Seal. The Dove Foundation, an advocate for family values in entertainment for more than 15 years, is a not-for-profit organization which has worked to encourage and promote the creation, production and distribution of such entertainment. The Dove "Family Approved" Seal is awarded to movies, DVDs, made-for-TV films and other entertainment programs which portray and encourage positive values.
"Sacrifices of the Heart" is the story of Kate Weston (Melissa Gilbert), a successful defense attorney who has an estranged relationship with her brother, Ryan (Cyril O'Reilly), and her father, Thane (Ken Howard). When Ryan calls to tell her their father, Thane (Ken Howard) has been having memory loss and suggests she come home for a visit, Kate reluctantly agrees.
At first look, Kate is not convinced her father has a serious problem, but during her stay, she realizes his memory lapses merit a closer look and when the doctor confirms their suspicions of early Alzheimer's, Kate begins to examine her relationship with her father more closely. The Dove Foundation has lauded the film as handling serious issues in a respectable manner, and that "it's a movie that gets to the heart of family relationships and what families are all about."
