HALEY SCARNATO IS ELIMINATED FROM THE "AMERICAN IDOL" COMPETITION
TOP 7 FINALISTS WILL COMPETE ON COUNTRY-THEMED PERFORMANCE SHOW TUESDAY, APRIL 17, ON FOX
Martina McBride to Perform on Next Results Show Wednesday, April 18
The quest of AMERICAN IDOL finalist Haley Scarnato ended last night when it was announced that she received the fewest votes. Tuesday's performance show featured the Top 8 singers performing Latin-themed music after being mentored by superstar Jennifer Lopez. Scarnato, 24, from San Antonio, TX, sang "Turn the Beat Around." Over 35 million votes, this season's highest total, were received after the show. On Wednesday, Lopez performed her propulsive single "Qu Hiciste," Akon performed "Don't Matter" and it was revealed that Scarnato will not be moving forward in the competition.
Next week, television's most popular show heats up when the Top 7 finalists (Melinda Doolittle, LaKisha Jones, Blake Lewis, Sanjaya Malakar, Chris Richardson, Jordin Sparks and Phil Stacey) compete head-to-head again on Tuesday, April 17 (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed). Country superstar Martina McBride will mentor the contestants as they prepare for the country-themed performance show. Tune in the following night to see McBride, multi-Platinum recording artist, perform "Anyway" from her new CD "Waking Up Laughing," and find out who receives enough votes to stay in the competition and who must go home on the live results show Wednesday, April 18 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX.
