WHITNEY ELIMINATED FROM "AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL" ON THE CW
April 12, 2007 (Burbank, California) - Whitney, a college student from West Palm Beach, Fla., was the seventh girl eliminated during the eighth cycle of The CW's hit reality series "America's Next Top Model," reducing the pool from 7 girls to 6.
The girls met with actress Tia Mowry ("The Game") who taught them how to portray different characters through voice and movement. Mowry then presented the girls with a script, and they were challenged to memorize their lines in two hours before acting their scene out with character actor Efren Ramirez ("Napoleon Dynamite"). They each had to portray three different personalities including a melodramatic drama queen, a diva, and a bubbly, happy person. When Renee won the challenge and chose Dionne to share the prize, they thought that the t-shirts they were given was the only prize, until they got back to their Hollywood mansion and were surprised by a visit from their family, giving them a unique opportunity to spend time with their children.
The next day, Jay met the girls for their photo shoot and revealed that they would be reenacting memorable moments from past cycles of "America's Next Top Model." The girls then had the opportunity to pose with the past participants who were the subject of their photo shoots. Whitney portrayed Shannon from cycle one who refused to pose nude in Paris. During the shoot, Jay encouraged Whitney to have fun with it, keep shifting, and to change up her poses. "She tried to give me a great shot, but I think if she relaxed and spent more time in the mirror it would be beautiful because she has a great face," guest photographer Mathew Jordan Smith said.
During the judging, Whitney found herself in the bottom two for the third week in a row. The judges all felt that Whitney's beauty and personality did not come through in her photos. "You need to shine on camera, not just be beautiful in person," Tyra said to Whitney before eliminating her from the race to become "America's Next Top Model."
In addition to a $100,000 contract with cosmetics giant CoverGirl, this year's prize package for the winner of The CW's "America's Next Top Model" will include a contract with Elite Model Management and a cover and six-page fashion spread in Seventeen magazine.
The eighth cycle of the hit reality series "America's Next Top Model" on The CW follows 13 young women as they attempt to prove they have what it takes to make it in the high-stress world of modeling. Banks, who created the show, also serves as executive producer along with Ken Mok ("Making the Band") and Anthony Dominici ("The Amazing Race").
