LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- ABC and CBS are set to follow in the footsteps of NBC, as each plan to air an hour of news coverage tonight devoted to the tragic Virginia Tech shootings.
The Peacock ran a previously unannounced "Dateline NBC" special about said event last night at 10:00/9:00c, replacing a pair of "My Name Is Earl" repeats.
As for ABC and CBS, the former plans to air a "Special Edition of Primetime: Massacre at Virginia Tech" tonight at 10:00/9:00c while the latter will broadcast "Virginia Tech: Anatomy Of A Rampage," a new episode of "48 Hours Mystery," also at 10:00/9:00c.
The Alphabet had been set to run a new episode of "Boston Legal" tonight ("Guise 'n Dolls"). That installment will move to April 24, replacing a repeat of "Angel of Death."
The Eye then will shift tonight's original "48 Hours" topic "Nightmare In Napa" to Saturday, April 21 at 10:00/9:00c.
Meanwhile, FOX has opted to pull Wednesday's installment of "Bones," which apparently deals with a murder on a college campus. In its place, a repeat of "Aliens in a Spaceship" will fill the hour. It's not clear when the pulled installment ("Player Under Pressure") will air.
