NBC DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT WINS THREE WEBBY AWARDS
"The Office" Site and Webisodes Take Home "People's Voice" Award
BURBANK, Calif. � May 2, 2007 � NBC Digital Entertainment has been awarded three Webbys for "The Office" website and webisodes. The 11th Annual Webby Awards winners were announced yesterday and the Awards Gala honoring the winners is scheduled for June 5th in New York.
"There is no higher compliment than be chosen by the users," said Vivi Zigler, Executive Vice President, NBC Digital Entertainment and New Media. "An entertainment web site should be fun and engaging and we're all really pleased that our fans are enjoying what our team is producing."
"The Office" website was nominated for Best Television Website and took home the "People's Voice" award. "The Office" webisodes were nominated in the Online Film & Video: Comedy Short category and took both the panelist-judged Webby as well as the "People's Voice" awards.
NBC Digital Entertainment earned four total nominations for the 11th Annual Webby Awards. In addition to "The Office," the nominations included "Saturday Night Live" and DotComedy.com's "The Easter Bunny Hates You."
NBC Digital Entertainment's Honorees included "Pale Force" (from Conan O'Brien and Jim Gaffigan) in the Animation Category, DotComedy in the Humor Category and "Passions Vendetta" and "Passions Tabloid Truth" in the Drama Category. Honoree distinction was awarded to work that scores in the top 15 percent of all work submitted for a Webby.
Hailed as the "Oscars of the Internet" by the New York Times, the Webby Awards are the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet, including Web sites, interactive advertising, online film and video and mobile web sites. Established in 1996, the 11th Annual Webby Awards received a record 8,000 entries from all 50 states and over 60 countries worldwide.
