FOX EXTENDS LATE-NIGHT LAUGHS WITH PICKUP OF "TALKSHOW WITH SPIKE FERESTEN"
FOX has ordered an additional season of the late-night laugher TALKSHOW WITH SPIKE FERESTEN. The atypical Saturday-night talk show will return for a full order of episodes for the 2007-2008 season.
"We're happy to pick up a second season of TALKSHOW WITH SPIKE FERESTEN," said Todd Yasui, senior vice president, late night programming, for FOX. Spike has shown himself to be a unique voice in the late-night comedy field, and his show presents a refreshing alternative to the format. We're looking forward to watching him continue to grow as a performer."
TALKSHOW WITH SPIKE FERESTEN boldly goes where other talk shows have gone before, only faster. TALKSHOW is a fast-paced half-hour that combines elements of a talk show with irreverent comedy sketches both inside the studio and out in the field.
Hosted by Emmy-nominated writer Spike Feresten ("Seinfeld," "Late Show with David Letterman"), TALKSHOW was highlighted in its inaugural season by recurring sketches "Idiot Paparazzi" and "Comedy for Stoners" as well as unconventional guest appearances by Fred Willard, Andy Richter, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and, of course, Spikes old boss Jerry Seinfeld.
TALKSHOW dispenses with the traditional monologue, features comedy in every act and uses guests in unpredictable ways. In addition, the show utilizes its staff by having them perform, which, mind you, is also a huge money-saver.
TALKSHOW WITH SPIKE FERESTEN airs Saturdays (12:00 Midnight-12:30 AM ET/PT) on FOX. The series, executive-produced by Feresten and Mike Gibbons, is a production of Fox Television Studios.
