LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- MyNetworkTV is hoping revivals of FOX's "Paradise Hotel" and NBC's "Meet My Folks" will help reverse its ratings fortunes as the network began detailing its 2007-2008 season plans this week.
The network, which did not hold a formal upfront presentation, is expected to follow its current model of feature film repeats, specials and a handful of original series. In other words, no more telenovelas or other scripted programming for the foreseeable future.
As for specifics, here's a breakdown of the newcomers:
-- "Divorce Wars," from Jay McGraw's Stage 29 Productions, features unhappy couples as they are locked in a house for five days to resolve their differences. McGraw's father, Dr. Phil McGraw, is expected to make occasional appearances but will not host the show.
-- A third season of "Meet My Folks," from Bruce Nash Productions, which originally ran from 2002-2003. It's due this fall.
-- A second season of "Paradise Hotel," from Mentorn USA, which lasted 32 episodes in 2003. MyNetworkTV will share the series with Fox Reality Channel beginning in early 2008.
-- "The Academy," Fox Reality's channel's upcoming new reality series, will re-air on the netlet this fall.
-- Six new "Access Hollywood"-produced specials along the lines of its top-rated offering "Anna Nicole Smith: A Centerfold Exposed" from March.
Additional details, including a night-by-night schedule, are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
