CRISS ANGEL MINDFREAK RETURNS FOR SEASON THREE WITH UNPRECEDENTED LEVITATION IN ONE-HOUR PREMIERE SPECIAL ON TUESDAY, JUNE 5 @ 10 PM ET/PT ON A&E
NEW YORK, NY, May 23, 2007 Criss Angel from the hit A&E Network series CRISS ANGEL MINDFREAK will attempt a death-defying demonstration in New York City's Times Square beginning Monday, June 4. Encased in a concrete block and lifted 40 feet above ground, Criss must escape before it crashes to the ground 24 hours later.
Criss Angel will be placed in a 4'x4'x4' glass box with steel bars that will be hoisted into the air and slowly filled with cement by spectators in full view at all times. Criss will be able to interact with the crowd with full audio and video during the entire event. The cement block demonstration will be filmed for a future episode of CRISS ANGEL MINDFREAK and stream live during a 24-hour web cast on www.aetv.com.
The third season of CRISS ANGEL MINDFREAK kicks off Tuesday, June 5 @ 10 PM ET/PT on A&E with a special one-hour premiere, followed by 26 all-new half hour weekly episodes. In the mind-blowing season opener Criss will astonish viewers by taking levitation to an unprecedented level - attempting to float more than 500 feet above ground over one of only two man-made objects that can be seen from space the 800 degree light beam that sits atop Las Vegas' Luxor Hotel and Casino.
A&E's fastest-growing series in 2006, CRISS ANGEL MINDFREAK garnered critical acclaim and delivered some of the youngest demos in the Network's history. Season 3 will continue to captivate audiences with mind-boggling demonstrations including spectacular escapes, mystifying mentalism, hypnotism, vanishes, animal magic, endurance feats, separations, penetrations, cards, coins, as well as celebrity and on-the-street encounters.
Criss Angel's unique blend of illusion and reality and his ability to push creative, physical and mental boundaries has earned him the reputation as one of the most innovative performers of his day. A magician and musician since a young age he made his prime-time television debut in 1994 on ABC's one-hour special "Secrets." By 1998, Criss Angel: World of Illusion was headlining in Madison Square Garden's annual Halloween extravaganza and led to his acclaimed Broadway production Criss Angel Mindfreak, which ran for 600 shows. Criss has appeared on several television specials, been featured countless times on dozens of networks, produced four original CDs and recently announced his 2008 Cirque Du Soleil live show. Criss has received numerous awards for his work - including being the first ever four-time recipient of the coveted Magician of the Year Award. CRISS ANGEL MINDFREAK, now entering its third season, first premiered on A&E in July 2005.
Mitsubishi is the official sponsor of the Criss Angel cement block demonstration.
Robert Sharenow, Elaine Frontain Bryant and Neil A. Cohen are the A&E executive producers for CRISS ANGEL MINDFREAK.
