DOTCOMEDY LAUNCHES 'VIEWER-MADE' VIDEOS
Embeddable Video Widget Feature Available To Users
High Resolution Video Now Available For Download
BURBANK, Calif. June 28, 2007 NBC Digital Entertainment's DotComedy.com today announced the beta launch of its Viewer-Made channel, enabling DotComedy viewers to upload their own shorts, skits and parodies. In addition, the site also now features code that allows visitors to embed all original DotComedy videos and all user-generated content on their blogs, profiles and personal websites. The announcements were made by Sean Redlitz, Managing Director, DotComedy.
"Since the launch of DotComedy, the number one question we hear is 'how can I get my videos up on the site too?,'" said Redlitz. "We're pleased to say we've taken the first step, enabling our users to upload their original efforts to our servers where they can be seen alongside our DotComedy-produced shows and shared with other fans. And over the coming months, we look forward to rolling out additional social networking features and functionality that will further enable our audience to showcase their talents. Warhol was half right - everyone will have their fifteen minutes of fame, but it seems they will be served up as a series of 2-3 minute webisodes."
The new Viewer Made channel can be seen at www.dotcomedy.com/viewer-made/. An MRSS feed of viewer-made content is available, as are feeds for DotComedy Digital Shows, TV & Movie videos and Stand-Up Comedy clips (http://www.dotcomedy.com/rss/).
In addition, the site also debuted free, advertiser-supported high resolution, downloadable videos that can be viewed online and off, as well as shared via peer-to-peer networks. The first download includes Stuckey & Murray's immigration music video "Mexicohabitation," the live-action video game parody "Double Dragon: 18 Years Later" and the Internet classic "The Easter Bunny Hates You," as well as its prequel. The complete list is available at http://www.dotcomedy.com/video-to-go/.
