ABC NEWS DIGITAL GROWS 13% IN UNIQUE VISITORS IN JUNE VERSUS THE SAME TIME LAST YEAR
ABC News Digital increased unique visitors by 13% to 10.9 million in June 2007 versus the same time last year, and ranked in eighth place in the Top 20 of general news sites, according to the Nielsen NetRatings.
In June, members of the digital community continued to engage in online dialogue on ABCNEWS.com, posting over 60,000 comments. The success of the Investigative Unit's web page, The Blotter, continues to be a key driver to the site's traffic. Articles that generated the most feedback include Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross' exclusive report on newly trained teams of Taliban suicide bombers being sent to the United States and Europe, and The Blotter's report on Iran being caught shipping Arms to the Taliban.
Other popular articles in June included the murder-suicide involving wrestler Chris Benoit and his family, which garnered thousands of comments, and a "20/20" report by Jim Avila on sugar pills and curing diseases.
Also in June, ABCNEWS.com saw 119.4 million page views, up 26% year to year, according to ABC's measurements.
