CBS.COM AND CBS MOBILE ARE EMMY FINALISTS IN THE CATEGORY OF INTERACTIVE TV PROGRAMMING FOR "THE JERICHO EXPERIENCE" AND "BIG BROTHER GOES MOBILE"
The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced on Thursday, July 19 that "The Jericho Experience" on CBS.com and "Big Brother Goes Mobile" on CBS Mobile are finalists for a possible Emmy award in the category of Interactive TV Programming.
In November 2006, CBS.com launched the website http://www.whodroppedthebomb.com/. The site, also known as "The Jericho Experience," made history by becoming the rallying point for fans of the series JERICHO who banded together and sent the network 50,000 pounds of nuts to protest the show's cancellation in May 2007. Due to the fans' impassioned support, CBS ordered seven additional episodes of JERICHO for mid-season.
"The Jericho Experience" features a number of online activities containing community message boards, a fan generated wiki, exclusive footage with the cast and producers and full-length "Insiders' Commentary" of various episodes, which include comments from the show's producers, writers, directors and actors, as well as original episodes of the online JERICHO webumentary "Countdown."
JERICHO is CBS's drama about how residents of a small, peaceful, Kansas town band together to survive in the wake of a nuclear explosion. Rebroadcasts of episodes from the first season are currently airing on Friday nights, 9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT for the remainder of the summer. JERICHO stars Skeet Ulrich, Ashley Scott, Kenneth Mitchell, Lennie James, Brad Beyer and Alicia Coppola. Jon Turteltaub and Carol Barbee are executive producers of JERICHO for CBS Paramount Network Television.
This is the second season of BIG BROTHER Mobile, in which around-the-clock updates from inside the BIG BROTHER house have been supplied to CBS's mobile subscribers. CBS offers its mobile subscribers a unique look into the world of the Houseguests competing in BIG BROTHER 8 with elements including downloads, special video clips, photos, live breaking house alerts and daily insider summaries sent straight to their cell phones. In addition, fans can use their cell phones to cast votes that will impact the action inside the house, and to answer a weekly Big Brother trivia question for a chance to win $10,000.
BIG BROTHER 8 follows the relationships and conflicts of players who live together in a house outfitted with dozens of cameras and microphones recording their every move 24 hours a day. One by one, the houseguests will vote each other out of the house. At the end of three months, the last remaining houseguest will receive the grand prize. BIG BROTHER 8 is executive produced by Emmy Award winner Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan, in association with Endemol U.S.A.
