'Judge David Young' Delivers Justice with a Snap
New Court Series Spotlights the Humor and Wisdom of Daytime TV's First
Openly Gay Judge
Premieres Nationwide on Monday, September 10, 2007
CULVER CITY, Calif., Sept. 7 -- "Judge David
Young," the new half-hour court series from Sony Pictures Television,
debuts in national syndication this Monday, September 10, 2007 (check local
listings or go to http://www.judgedavidyoung.com for stations and times).
The star of the show, Judge David Young, is an innovative and compelling
and judge who offers a provocative and entertaining blend of honesty,
compassion, and humor when resolving issues in his courtroom. Judge Young
is also daytime television's first openly gay judge.
In his first week on the bench, Judge Young presides over several fun
filled yet hard-hitting cases including a wacky woman going cuckoo in court
over her stolen pet parrot, formerly estranged lovers bickering over porn,
and a man who returns to his stables to find his horse was sold!
Judge Young is known for his fierce intelligence and occasional bursts
into show tunes and brings a refreshing perspective to the daytime
audience. Confrontational, caring and always entertaining, Judge Young will
command respect first and foremost from his litigants and will have zero
tolerance for those who attempt to dodge responsibility or waste the
court's time.
A one-time law clerk for renowned attorney F. Lee Bailey, and assistant
state attorney in Florida under Janet Reno, Judge Young achieved local
celebrity status for his creative courtroom approach and his tough but fair
sentencing on several prominent cases during his three-term service in the
courtrooms of Miami-Dade County.
It was a high-profile case in May 2005 that garnered Judge Young
national attention when he sentenced two America West airline pilots to
jail for attempting to operate a plane while intoxicated. His commitment to
personal responsibility accompanies a strong sense of compassion for
litigants in his courtroom. Five days a week, Judge Young will use his
position to help the people behind the cases brought before him.
The judge will be joined every day by the vibrant and warm-hearted
Bailiff Tawya Young (no relation), whose experience as a lieutenant at
Brooklyn Civil-Small Claims Court will serve as an invaluable support to
the legal proceedings on the show.
"Judge David Young" is cleared in over 91% of the U.S., including 49 of
the top 50 markets for the 2007-2008 season. The show is produced in New
