BRAVO GREENLIGHTS NEW DANCE SERIES 'STEP IT UP' FROM EMMY-NOMINATED PRODUCERS MAGICAL ELVES
Casting Begins Today in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles And Atlanta
NEW YORK � September 10, 2007 � Bravo announced "Step It Up," a new dance reality competition series produced by Magical Elves' producers Jane Lipsitz and Dan Cutforth (Emmy-nominated "Project Runway" and Emmy-nominated "Top Chef"). Created by Gunnar Wetterberg for Magical Elves, "Step It Up" will show what it takes to make it big in the cutthroat dance industry. Bringing together dancers from around the country, the series will challenge them to master every conceivable dance style, from ballet and ballroom to Broadway and burlesque. "'Step It Up' pulls back the curtain on one of the most lively arts and one of America's favorite pastimes � dance," said Berwick. "Like other creative professions, dance inherently has all the ingredients of competition and drama that make Bravo shows so compelling to watch."
"We believe there is an emotional, dramatic and visually exciting side of the dance world that has yet to be explored," said Lipsitz. "We are very excited to take the same organic and passionate approach to dance, as we do to cooking in 'Top Chef' and fashion in 'Runway.'"
Whether it's a music video one week or a Vegas spectacular the next, Bravo's new dance series will feature challenges in which the dancers audition for a range of parts, designed to showcase their versatility and moves. As the competition gets fierce and contestants are eliminated, only one person will get the final "call back" and the chance to perform, with the ultimate dancer winning a cash prize.
