DISNEY-ABC TELEVISION GROUP'S DIGITAL MEDIA TEAM TAKES HOME INTERACTIVE EMMY AS ABCFAMILY.COM WINS FOR "THE FALLEN ALTERNATE REALITY GAME"
Disney-ABC Television Group's Digital Media Team took home an Interactive Emmy with ABCFamily.com being named the winner of Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Television for "The Fallen Alternate Reality Game." The announcement was made by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences at the Creative Arts Primetime Emmy presentation at the Shrine Auditorium on September 8. Finalists were chosen by members of the Interactive Media Peer Group who voted in an online voting system. Emmy winners were selected from among the finalists by a Blue Ribbon panel.
"I would like to congratulate ABC Family and ABC Family Digital Media for this great achievement and fulfilling our differentiated multiplatform programming strategy," said Albert Cheng, executive vice president, Digital Media, Disney-ABC Television Group. "We're very honored to have been recognized by our peers at the Academy and having them drive awareness and significance of digital at the Emmys."
"To reach young adult millennials, who are the core audience of ABC Family, it is essential that our programming live on multiple platforms," added Paul Lee, president of ABC Family. "A miniseries as action-packed and dramatic as Fallen' needed a virtual life that was just as involving, and the ARG game surpassed all our expectations. The Emmy is terrific validation."
This is the second Interactive Emmy for Disney-ABC Television Group. Last year ABC.com was awarded an Interactive Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement for Enhanced or Interactive Programming: New Delivery Platforms. Disney Channel.com's Broadband Video Player is also nominated for an Interactive Emmy in the Service category that will be awarded this Sunday.
