"MRS. AMERICA" Competition Premieres on WE TV Friday, September 21st at 8pm ET/PT
Hosted by TV Stars Alan Thicke and Omarosa Stallworth
New York, NY, September 18, 2007 It took more than a nasty rattlesnake bite and the remnants of a Mexican Hurricane to rattle delegates of the upcoming competition special, "Mrs. America", premiering on WE tv Friday, September 21 at 8pm I 7c. Hosting this year's pageant extravaganza is actor Alan Thicke known for his role on "Growing Pains" and reality star Omarosa Stallworth of "The Apprentice."
In celebration of the 68-million married women of America, "Mrs. America" spotlights some of the most accomplished, contemporary, poised, articulate and attractive married women, where delegates from all 50 states and the District of Columbia participate. Judging is based on interviews, evening gown and swimwear competitions. Held in the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona this year, the competition was plagued by rains from the Mexican Hurricane drenching the outdoor stage two hours before the competition began and two run-ins with poisonous insects and snakes! However, the show must go on and all the ladies rallied for the competition!
Alan Thicke, who starred in the hit TV series, "Growing Pains," serves as host, along with Omarosa Stallworth of NBC's "The Apprentice." Judges include: Dr. Lynn Brinckmeyer, President, MENC (The National Association of Music Education); Carrie Strom, Mrs. America 1979; Major Rose Keravuori, former Mrs. Virginia, U.S. Army, being deployed to Iraq next month; Jonathan Walker, President & CEO, Metropolitan Tucson Visitors and Convention Bureau; Earl Hurrey, National Director, The National Anthem Project; and Valerie Sheppard, actress and marketing executive. The reigning Mrs. America Marney Duckworth, former Mrs. Colorado, will appear on the program along with "Mrs. World" 2007 Diane Tucker of Tucson, Arizona.
Encore presentations will air Saturday, September 22 at 6pm I 5c and Thursday, September 27 at 6pm I 5c and 12am I 11c. (Check local listings for time and channel).
