UNIVERSAL HD KICKS OFF FALL WITH ACTION PACKED MOVIES, SERIES AND SPORTS
BURBANK, Calif. - October 2, 2007 - This October, Universal HD, the destination for the cutting edge high definition programming, brings our audience more movies, back-to-back series and more sports than ever before, all in 1080i High Definition. Universal HD will treat viewers to sporting events all month long and will feature a weekend of monsters and mystery starting October 27th, just in time for Halloween and all in life-like high-definition.
"October will be huge on Universal HD," said Dan Harrison, Senior Vice President, Emerging Networks, NBC Universal Cable. "Viewers know they can find the best in high-def sports, film and television each month on Universal HD."
Universal HD kicks off the month with an encore of The Presidents Cup, on October 1st from 7pm-5am (ET) and October 2nd from 7pm-1am (ET). Days three and four of the tournament will be broadcast in native 1080i HD with 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound so viewers can feel like they are on the course watching every minute.
Every Friday night at 8pm, Universal HD brings viewers X-Treme Fridays, which includes action-packed movies such as Spy Game, Musketeer and Dragonheart, plus new episodes of The Jeep World of Adventure Sports HD and The 2006 Dew Action Sports Tour.
The action continues with the The Playstation Pro, the final stop of the 2007 AST DEW TOUR - LIVE on Friday and Saturday, October 19 & 20 at 12am (ET).
The Fighting Irish will play in beautiful HD in October as NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL ENCORES air Saturdays, 12am and Sundays, 9am (ET):

On Saturday mornings, viewers can wake up with the 2007 US OPEN TENNIS SHOWCASE - Saturdays, 8am (ET). Each week, Universal HD will showcase a championship match from this year's record-breaking US Open tournament.
Another exciting event in October is BEFORE THEY WERE STARS WEEK on Monday October 8 through Thursday October 11. The early work of film favorites Milla Jovovich, Elijah Wood and Renee Zellweger will be showcased on Universal HD. Jovovich stars in Return to the Blue Lagoon on Monday at 8pm and 11pm (ET). On Tuesday, Elijah Wood enters the water with his friend Flipper at 8pm (ET) then shines in the drama, Radio Flyer at 11pm (ET). Renee Zellweger pops up alongside Ethan Hawke, Ben Stiller and Winona Ryder in Reality Bites on Thursday at 8pm before joining Matthew McConaughey on the cutting edge of Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation at 1am (ET).
Wednesdays in October Universal HD continues to present Sundance Channel's critically acclaimed original series Iconoclasts, Big Ideas for a Small Planet and Live from Abbey Road in 1080i High Definition. SUNDANCE ON UNIVERSAL HD - airs Wednesdays, 8pm (ET/PT).

On Saturday, October 27, viewers will meet the original Hannibal Lecter in Manhunter at 10pm (ET) followed by Frankenstein Reborn at 2am (ET). More creatures arrive with Tales from the Crypt: Bordello of Blood on Sunday, October 28 at 9pm (ET) and Matinee at 1am (ET).
The terror continues on Monday, October 29 with Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation at 10am and 11pm (ET), Night of the Living Dead (1990) at 11:30am (ET), Decoys at 1pm (ET), Alien Abduction at 2:30pm and 3am (ET) and Nightmares at 8pm (ET). Even Joel and Maggie encounter ghosts in special Halloween episodes of Northern Exposure at 4pm and 5pm (ET).
