LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- FOX has cut its commitment to "The Return of Jezebel James" while "K-Ville" may be around a little while longer.
The latter series has received an order for two additional scripts, the first step toward potentially producing more episodes. To date, FOX has committed to 13 episodes of the drama.
The 20th Century Fox Television-based "K-Ville" comes from executive producers Craig Silverstein and Jonathan Lisco.
As for "James," FOX will suspend production after its seventh episode, six shy of its previously announced 13-episode order. It's understood the decision was tied to FOX's overstuffed midseason roster, which includes fellow newcomers "Canterbury's Law," "New Amsterdam," "Nothing But the Truth," "The Sarah Connor Chronicles," "Unhitched" and "When Women Rule the World."
"We have always planned to launch 'The Return of Jezebel James' in midseason, and seven episodes are all we need to allow us to program the series through the current broadcast season," the network said in a statement to the press. "We are big fans of Amy Sherman-Palladino, Dan Palladino and the extremely talented cast and are looking forward to airing the show."
Regency Television is behind "James."
