"Hunt for the Hunter" Finalists Audition Live
Destination Truth's Josh Gates Joins as Host
NEW YORK, NYOctober 22, 2007On Halloween night, SCI FI Channel will embark on the 2nd annual, 6-hour Ghost Hunters Live investigation, this year at the notoriously haunted Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Louisville, KY. Hosted by Josh Gates of SCI FI's hit reality series Destination Truth, Ghost Hunters Live* is now in primetime, beginning at 9 PM and keeping viewers on the edge of their seat until 3 AM the following morning!
In keeping with its commitment to provide viewers with immersive, full 360 entertainment experiences through digital technology, SCIFI.COM will set new standards in audience interaction with the all-new "Interactive Headquarters" feature for Ghost Hunters Live. This Halloween, everyone will be able to join the hunt as SCIFI.COM connects viewers directly with Josh, Jason, Grant and the rest of the team for the entire six hours onsite at Waverly Hills. Offering more ways for viewers to be a part of the live broadcast than ever before, the Interactive Headquarters is the ultimate destination for viewers to participate in the show via online and mobile. Features will include:
An exclusive, multi-camera online video feed, including thermal imaging camera views (a must-have for any Ghost Hunters investigation), which will give viewers real-time access to unaired footage so that they may watch for paranormal evidence along with the team
Exclusive access to photos from the live event posted online every 30 minutes, where viewers can use their own ghost hunting skills to examine the photos, look for supernatural activity and send feedback to the team
Q&A and the return of the "panic button" while watching the exclusive live event online, users will be able to send questions and comments (and tips on where there may be a ghost onsite!), to the team, who will address the messages live when they stop by Interactive Headquarters during the course of the investigation
A live, user-to-user chat so viewers can share up-to-the-minute information on the investigation, compare evidence and debate about what they've seen
Another interactive addition to the telecast is the live call for votes in the "Hunt for the Hunter" promotion, SCI FI's national search for the newest member of the Ghost Hunters team. The campaign began in June, when haunted hopefuls from across the country submitted videos for consideration on SCIFI.COM, where users voted to help Jason and Grant choose three finalists: Mark Fusetti of Philadelphia, PA, Patrick Clark of Seattle, WA and Deanna Hoffman of Newburgh, IN. Now, as these lucky three prove their mettle in the upcoming live investigation, viewers around the country watching the live "auditions" may vote via SMS text messaging to offer their suggestions as to who should be the next Ghost Hunter. Jason and Grant will reveal their new team member during the following week's post-Halloween wrap-up, and whoever reigns victorious will have the opportunity to bust another ghost in an upcoming episode in season 4 next year.
In March 2006, the Ghost Hunters took their first trip to Waverly Hills Sanatorium, one of the country's bona fide "most haunted" places. During the decades when the facility served as a tuberculosis hospital, an estimated 63,000 people died within its walls. After experiencing a variety of inexplicable encounters during their first investigation, TAPS eagerly returns to explore some of the hospital's most notorious hot spots! Ghost Hunters Live wraps up SCIFI's 13 Days of Halloween, a thrilling marathon of over horror and sci-fi movies, miniseries and originals.
