Cartoon Network will celebrate Thanksgiving 2007 with a day-long celebration of "Friendsgiving," a 12-hour marathon (7 a.m.-7 p.m. ET/PT) of best-ever Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends episodes plus an encore presentation of the Emmy-nominated 90-minute animated feature, "Good Wilt Hunting." Fans of the multiple award-winning animated series are also invited to tune in Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 22, to the 81st Anniversary Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in which Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends will be represented by a 30-foot-tall float spotlighting favorite series characters as singing puppets. The Turkey-Day festivities will conclude with the network premiere of "The Little Peas," an all-new Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends episode.
"Good friends are something everyone can appreciate and give thanks for this holiday," said Rico Hill, vice president of programming and scheduling for Cartoon Network. "With a musical place in the annual Macy's paradethe traditional kick-off to the holiday seasona special Foster's marathon, a heart-warming movie, and topping it off with a brand new premier, Cartoon Network aims to give kids and families a holiday event they'll remember for years to come."
In Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, shy Mac has the perfect alter ego in his imaginary friend, Blooregard Q. Kazoo. Bloo is the impulsive, brash creature who lives at Madame Foster's home for imaginary friends, a haven for wayward friends like Wilt, Eduardo, Coco and others who have been separated from the kids and young-at-heart who "invented" them. Created by award-winning animator, executive producer and director Craig McCracken, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends premiered in August 2004 and has earned multiple Emmy Award nominations as well as a prime time Emmy win for "Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation."
The Foster's float, depicted as a 30-foot-tall replica of Madame Foster's fun-filled, rainbow colored Victorian mansion, makes its second appearance this year in the 81st Anniversary Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. .Through the creativity of the Atlanta-based Center for Puppetry Arts, multiple characters from the series will appear to sing "You're My Best Friend," originally made popular by Queen. The lead lyric will be sung by Cheese to Bloo, with the Foster's gang of Eduardo, Wilt and Coco singing back-up. Additional characters from the series, Bloppypants, Fluffernutter and Jackie Khones also will be making their debut appearance on the float.
