DEBMAR-MERCURY PARTNERS WITH NEW YORK'S QUEEN OF RADIO FOR TV TALK SHOW
Wendy Williams to Produce as Well as Host
Los Angeles, November 29 Fresh off its success with Tyler Perry's The House of Payne, Debmar-Mercury, a leading independent media distribution and production company, is partnering with Wendy Williams, New York's #1 afternoon drive time DJ, to produce and host her own television talk show.
A one woman media conglomerate, beginning with her flagship radio show on WBLS, two New York Times best sellers, and a CD, Williams will extend her unique presence to broadcast television, offering a combination of celebrity interviews, entertainment news and personal advice via an hour daily talk show.
"Wendy Williams is exactly the type of talent we want to be in business with," said Mort Marcus, co-president Debmar-Mercury. "She has developed a strong personal brand that connects with a broad based audience and she knows how to extend that brand through different media." "She has a voice that is unique and unduplicated in television and we believe Wendy Williams will come to dominate television in the same way she has ruled the radio airwaves in New York," added Ira Bernstein, co-president Debmar-Mercury.
"I'm really excited to be a part of this new venture and feel that Mort and Ira are the ideal partners to help make my vision a reality," said Windy Williams. "Their history with Tyler Perry shows they understand how to work with talent and their success with South Park tells me they know how to work with edgy material."
Debmar-Mercury intends to focus exclusively on New York for the initial run of the series before making the series available on a national basis.
