Nominations, Including Two New Categories, To Be Announced Tuesday, Jan. 8
THE 39TH NAACP IMAGE AWARDS will broadcast live from Los Angeles' historic Shrine Auditorium, Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. Nominations for the annual award show that recognizes the artistic achievements of people of color and honors projects and individuals that promote diversity in the arts will be announced Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008 from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Hosts, performers and presenters of THE 39TH NAACP IMAGE AWARDS will be announced soon.
The NAACP has added two new award categories including "Outstanding Documentary: Television or Motion Picture" and "Outstanding World Music Album" to the telecast. The addition of "Outstanding World Music Album" aims to expose audiences to an eclectic variety of music from various regions including Africa, South America and Asia.
"The NAACP IMAGE AWARDS has always celebrated the achievements of people of color in music, film, television and literature, and this year we are especially delighted to have our telecast air during Black History Month to bring a heightened level of awareness to our community," said Clayola Brown, Chair of THE 39TH NAACP IMAGE AWARDS.
