WE tv Renews Original Series Hair Trauma for Season Two
New Season Kicks-Off Online With Exclusive Web Series Hair Drama
New York, NY, December 4, 2007 - Building on the success of season one of WE tv's original series Hair Trauma, the network announced today that for season two, premiering Sunday, December 9th at 10 PM EST, they will be offering Hair Drama, an exclusive online series, complementing the network's content, featuring hairstylist to the stars, Ellin LaVar, who owns a family run hair salon in New York City. The six, half-hour episodes, on-air, of Hair Trauma captures all the highlights and lowlights of life in the hair business while the online Hair Drama series offers more footage and storylines that takes viewers deeper into the crazy, the zany, and the often unbelievable world of LaVar Hair Designs. Hair Drama can be seen at www.WEtv.com, starting now, with a new episode offered each week.
"WE tv is constantly developing new ways of interacting and engaging our audience beyond the linear network by creating complementary programming for our other platforms. With Hair Trauma, we saw the unique opportunity to expand the series online to deliver more behind-the-scenes footage from the exciting and stressful life of this stylist to the stars and her staff of characters," said Kim Martin, EVP and GM of WE tv. "WE tv continually expands and invests in its original programming in order to cater to the varied interests of our audience while also appealing to a large demographic of women with compelling, quality niche programs."
Hair Trauma takes family relationships bonding to a whole new level. Ellin LaVar is faced with juggling the many facets of her business and her demanding celebrity clients while working alongside her sister Kim and brother Jeff. Ellin's salon is only part of her empire; she also produces a hair care line in her name as well as travels to locations around the world to caterer to her celebrity clients. Ellin's roster of clients includes Oprah Winfrey, Donnatella Versace, Whitney Houston, Naomi Campbell, Missy Elliot, Iman, Mary J. Blige, Venus and Serena Williams, among others. According to LaVar, she treats all of her clients as stars. Between the blowouts, the cuts, missing hair pieces, clients with attitude, last minute surprise star arrivals and other hair-raising issues, there is never a dull moment in her shop, and viewers will relate as Ellin is driven crazy by her well-meaning, but often meddling, siblings.
Each episode of Hair Trauma is produced by Red Moxie.
