COUNTRY MUSIC'S ONLY FAN-VOTED AWARDS SHOW ANNOUNCES 2008 DATE AND LOCATION
The 2008 CMT MUSIC AWARDS to air LIVE on Monday, April 14 From the Curb Event Center at Belmont University
NASHVILLE � December 11, 2007 � Country music's biggest stars will once again rock Nashville's Curb Event Center at Belmont University when the 2008 CMT MUSIC AWARDS premieres LIVE on Monday, April 14, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CMT and CMT.com. 2008 marks the third time that the CMT show and its live red carpet pre-show will be broadcast from Belmont University. The CMT MUSIC AWARDS remains country music's only fan-voted award show.
The first round of nominees will be announced Tuesday, February 5 and fan voting will begin on CMT.com. Final nominees will be announced in early March. Videos must be submitted no later than January 1, and must air on CMT by January 9 in order to be eligible.
The 2007 CMT MUSIC AWARDS sparked significant post-show album sales and digital downloads for many show performers for the week following the awards show. The awards show and related programming garnered an impressive 9.1 million viewers who tuned in for the premiere on April 16, 2007. During its premiere, the 2007 CMT MUSIC AWARDS ranked No. 1 across all ad-supported cable with women 25-54, and No. 2 with adults 18-49 in the same time period. Since its premiere, more than 31.6 million different total viewers have seen 23 airings of the 2007 CMT MUSIC AWARDS.
