JASON KLARMAN NAMED GM OF OXYGEN MEDIA
JASON KLARMAN NAMED GENERAL MANAGER OF OXYGEN MEDIA
New York, NY - January 17, 2008. Jason Klarman has been named General Manager, Oxygen Media. The announcement was made by Lauren Zalaznick, President of Bravo Media and Oxygen Media and is effective immediately. The female focused network was acquired by NBC Universal in November, 2007.
In his new position, Klarman will work closely with Zalaznick to determine the overall marketing, digital, communications & sales strategy for the network. He will have responsibility for day to day operations and will manage the brand strategy, consumer and trade marketing, on-air promotion and creative services for Oxygen. Klarman will also oversee the strategy for advertising and digital sales and the development of all digital content. In addition to the linear network, Oxygen currently owns and operates Oxygen.com, Quizfarm.com, BabyNamer.com, MyOvulator.com and SheDidWhat.TV.
"At Bravo Media, and before that at TRIO network, Jason has brought innovation and growth to every part of the business he's touched. He thinks big, he thinks strategically, and is extremely effective at taking an existing brand and bringing it to a whole new level," said Zalaznick. "Oxygen is an exciting new asset for NBC Universal and presents a tremendous growth opportunity. I think he'll do great things for the network."
Under Klarman's leadership Bravo rebranded in 2005, transforming the network's on-air and online look with its now signature talk bubble logo and "Watch What Happens" tagline. Since the rebrand, Klarman has helped launch Bravo's biggest hits including Project Runway, Top Chef, The Real Housewives of Orange County, Kathy Griffin: My Life On The D-List and more. These hits have allowed the network to enjoy its best years ever in 2006 and 2007, in every key metric, both on air and on line.
On the digital front, Klarman transformed the network's website from a promotional-focused site to an online hub for everything Bravo and everything pop culture. In addition to launching new broadband sites like BrilliantButCancelled.com and OutZoneTV.com, Klarman was instrumental in acquiring web site TelevisionWithoutPity. Under his watch, Bravo's digital properties grew from 8.5mm page views per month in 2004, to hit 90M page views last month.
In 2007, Klarman was instrumental in the launch of Bravo Media, transforming all of the network's on-air and off-air communications and working on the development of new revenue streams most recently closing a first-ever book deal for a Top Chef cookbook.
Most recently, Klarman added responsibility for strategic sales marketing, working with Bravo's head of sales to create an effective "4D" market strategy for the Bravo brand beginning with last year's highly successful "Affluencer" campaign.
In 2007, Klarman was named a Promax Brand Builder and was an EMMY finalist for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Television. In 2006, he was named one of the Entertainment Marketers of the Year by Ad Age magazine and a Digital Innovator by TV Week.
Klarman joined Bravo in 2004 from TRIO, the pop culture network where he originally met Zalaznick. There, he led the branding efforts from May 2001 as the Senior Vice President of Marketing.
Klarman holds BAs in Economics and Political Science from the University of Michigan, as well as an MBA from New York University in Finance and Marketing.
