Series Ranks as #1 Cable Program in Thursday Primetime among P12-34
Santa Monica, CA (March 11, 2008) � Following the strong, swift success of "Randy Jackson Presents: America's Best Dance Crew" (http://dancecrew.mtv.com), which has been the top-rated telecast in Thursday primetime among P12-34 across cable, MTV has picked up the hit series for a second season scheduled to premiere in Summer 2008. A nationwide search for the top hip-hop crews will be conducted shortly. Details will be provided at www.mtv.com. This time around, viewers can help, by rating, viewing and watching the best dance videos allowing a deeper audience involvement and manifesting the destiny of hopeful crews. Troupes from all over will have the chance to post their videos at http://dance.mtv.com and the audience faves may be featured on-air.
Currently airing Thursdays at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, "Randy Jackson Presents: America's Best Dance Crew" is a visual and inspiring performance competition series. Every week, dance crews of five to seven members are challenged to demonstrate the most innovative choreography and skills as their personal life stories unfold. Based on votes from viewers via online, text and phone and opinions from judges JC Chasez (N*Sync), hip hop recording artist Lil Mama and choreographer Shane Sparks ("So You Think You Can Dance," "You Got Served"), the crews battle it out on the stage floor weekly for dance supremacy.
The airing of "America's Best Dance Crew" on March 6 delivered a 2.8 rating among P12-34, becoming the highest rated telecast among P12-34 on MTV in 2008-to-date. Season-to-date, more than 65.5 million total viewers (P2+) with 31.1 million from the core P12-34 demographic have tuned in to the series.
"Randy Jackson Presents: America's Best Dance Crew" is executive produced by "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson, Joel Gallen (Tenth Planet Productions), Hip Hop International's Howard Schwartz and Karen Schwartz (the creators of the USA & World Hip Hop Dance Championships), Rob Lee (Bayonne Entertainment), Harriet Sternberg and Abe Hoch (Dream Merchant 21). David Auerbach and Brooke Karzen are the executives overseeing the project for Warner Horizon Television ("The Bachelor;" "The Search For The Next Pussycat Doll").
