CBS NEWS WINS TWO PEABODY AWARDS, ONE EACH FOR "60 MINUTES" AND "CBS NEWS SUNDAY MORNING"
CBS News has won two 2007 Peabody Awards, one each for 60 MINUTES and CBS NEWS SUNDAY MORNING. The announcement was made today by the University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication.
60 MINUTES won for a Scott Pelley report, "The Killings in Haditha," that questioned the conventional wisdom about the worst single killing of civilians by U.S. soldiers since Vietnam. The piece was produced by Shawn Efran and Solly Granatstein and edited by Andy Soto. This is the 13th Peabody Award for 60 MINUTES.
CBS NEWS SUNDAY MORNING won for "The Way Home," a powerful report by Kimberly Dozier on two women veterans who lost limbs in Iraq. Dozier herself was the victim of a car bomb attack in Baghdad on Memorial Day 2006. The piece was produced by Reid Orvedahl and edited by David Small. This is the fourth Peabody for SUNDAY MORNING.
Jeff Fager is the executive producer of 60 MINUTES and Rand Morrison is the executive producer of SUNDAY MORNING.
The Peabody is one of the oldest and most prestigious awards given for outstanding work in electronic media. The program has been administered by the University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication since its inception in 1940.
