Film About The 1992 Clinton Campaign
New Documentary Scheduled To Premiere In October 2008
NEW YORK, April 2, 2008 -- Sundance Channel
will present The War Room +15, a new documentary directed by Chris Hegedus
and D A Pennebaker, who depicted the inner workings of Bill Clinton's 1992
presidential campaign in their Academy Award(R)-nominated documentary The
War Room. The War Room +15 will feature some of The War Room's main
characters as well as a crop of new politicos and take an in-depth look at
how the political process and media culture have changed since the 1992
presidential election. Sundance Channel will premiere The War Room +15 in
October 2008.
The War Room +15 is produced by R.J. Cutler, Wendy Ettinger and Frazer
Pennebaker and is overseen for Sundance Channel by Senior Vice President,
Original Programming and Development Lynne Kirby and Director, Original
Programming and Development Samuel J. Paul.
Released in 1993, The War Room captured the reinvention of modern
campaigning at the hands of Bill Clinton's election team, a nimble group
led by the "Rajin' Cajun" James Carville and the articulate George
Stephanopoulos. In The War Room +15 the filmmakers will head into the
trenches of the 2008 election year and connect with some of The War Room's
main characters who remain active in the political arena, be it
behind-the-scenes or in the media. They will also introduce a new cast of
characters as well: men and women who came after Carville and
Stephanopoulos, and who are in charge of honing the strategies and fielding
the curve balls that are part of any presidential bid.
Production on The War Room +15 has begun and will continue into the
summer. Among The War Room veterans on tap for the new film are James
Carville, the political consultant and commentator; Paul Begala, the
political consultant and commentator who served in the Clinton
administration as counselor to the president; and Stan Greenberg, a leading
Democratic pollster and political strategist who has advised the campaigns
of Bill Clinton, Al Gore and John Kerry.
