DISCOVERY CHANNEL RANKS AS THE HIGHEST-QUALITY NETWORK FOR THE EIGHTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR IN THE 2008 BETA RESEARCH BRAND IDENTITY OF BASIC CABLE/BROADCAST NETWORKS STUDY
(Silver Spring, Md.) � For the eighth consecutive year, viewers rank Discovery Channel the highest-quality TV network, according to results released today in the 2008 Beta Research Brand Identity of Basic Cable/Broadcast Networks Study. The network also earned first place rankings in several other key study categories. Viewers call Discovery Channel their favorite channel; most distinctive; bold; and, for the ninth straight year, #1 in having many original series. In addition, viewers rank Discovery Channel #1 among networks deemed entertaining and informative (tie).

� Among male viewers: #1 for being a favorite channel; entertaining; bold/tries new things; having many original series; high-quality and a channel subscribers would like to see in HD.
� Among female viewers: #1 for being informative; bold/trying new things; having many original series and being distinctive.
In other notable results, Animal Planet is #2 for family-oriented programming and for having many original series (tie). Among women, the network also ranks #1 for high-quality (tie).
