Another Major Award for "60 Minutes": Robert F. Kennedy Award Is the Ninth High Profile Journalism Honor This Season

ANOTHER MAJOR AWARD FOR "60 MINUTES": ROBERT F. KENNEDY AWARD IS THE NINTH HIGH PROFILE JOURNALISM HONOR THIS SEASON

"60 MINUTES" has been recognized with another major journalism award - its ninth since the 2007-'08 television season began last fall.

The Robert F. Kennedy Journalism award has been announced for "Evidence of Injustice," reported by Steve Kroft on 60 MINUTES Nov. 18, 2008, with a print version written by reporter John Solomon appearing in The Washington Post on the same day. The joint investigation revealed for the first time that the "science" of bullet lead analysis, used to convict hundreds of defendants, was deeply flawed. Ira Rosen produced it; the associate producer was Sumi Aggarwal; the editor was Matt Richman; broadcast assistant was Tadd Lascari.

It is the second major award for "Evidence of Injustice." The joint investigation was also just named the winner of a Sigma Delta Chi award from the Society of Professional Journalists.

The Robert F. Kennedy honor brings to nine the number of major industry awards won by the number-one news magazine since September, including four Emmys, an Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University Silver Baton, a Peabody, and an RTNDA Edward R. Murrow award.
