JO DE LA ROSA LEAVES ORANGE COUNTY BEHIND TO FIND ROMANCE IN BRAVO'S NEW DATING COMPETITION SERIES, 'DATE MY EX: JO & SLADE,' PREMIERING MONDAY, JULY 21 AT 10 PM ET/PT
De La Rosa Leans On Her Ex-Fianc, Slade Smiley In Her Search For A New Love
NEW YORK - June 3, 2008 Jo De La Rosa, who appeared in the first two seasons of Bravo's hit docu-series "The Real Housewives of Orange County," gets a second chance at love (with a little help from her ex-fianc Slade Smiley) in Bravo's new dating competition series, "Date My Ex: Jo & Slade," premiering Monday, July 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The series will follow De La Rosa as she leaves Orange County behind and looks for love and adventure in Los Angeles, where she has moved to pursue a singing career. But as De La Rosa's suitors will find out, you don't get her without Smiley!
Since breaking things off with her ex, De La Rosa has kept busy recording her debut single, "You Can't Control Me." She has enjoyed her single life in Los Angeles and being young, a contrast to her "housewife" days with Smiley in Orange County. But friends now think it's time for her to venture out into the dating world.
In each episode, De La Rosa will go on a series of dates that have been set up by her close friends, Myia Ingoldsby and Katy Metz. But in a bizarre twist, the men must all live with Smiley, who has also moved to Los Angeles and remains De La Rosa's closest confidante. Following their dates with De La Rosa, Smiley will grill the guys and voice his opinions on which ones he deems most suitable for his ex. He will also test them in an attempt to find out which ones are there for the right reasons. De La Rosa will choose one suitor from each episode to pass to the next round in the end, whittling the choices down to that one special guy.
Will De La Rosa be able to break from Smiley completely and find love again with someone new? Will Smiley have De La Rosa's best interests in mind, or will he want to get rid of the person who poses a legitimate threat? "No one knows Jo better than me, which means that no one probably has more influence over her," says Smiley. "It's weird having your ex help you out dating, and quite frankly I'm a little scared. For the guys," says De La Rosa.
Bravo will sneak peek the new series with a preview special, "Jo and Slade: The Break Up," airing Monday, June 30 at 10 p.m. The special will recap the history of De La Rosa and Smiley's complicated relationship, and update fans on their current situation.
