Promotion Brings Exec's Digital And Programming Expertise To All NBC Universal Entertainment Sites
BURBANK, Calif. June 30, 2008 NBC Universal today announced the promotion of Vivi Zigler to President, NBC Universal Digital Entertainment. In her new post, Zigler will lend her support and expertise to all of the NBC Universal entertainment websites. Oversight of the websites will continue to report into their respective business leaders. Zigler will continue to oversee the NBC Universal Digital Studio and NBC Digital Entertainment, including NBC.com. The announcement was made by Marc Graboff and Ben Silverman, Co-Chairmen, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios and Jeff Gaspin, President and Chief Operating Officer, Universal Television Group.
"Vivi is an incredible executive who brings extensive experience in both marketing and programming to the table," said Silverman. "She has proven herself to be a force in the digital industry and we're thrilled she's in this role."
"Vivi has transitioned NBC.com from a largely promotional site to a significant revenue generating business in a very short time," said Graboff. "Her expertise in many different areas of the television business is invaluable in the expanding digital entertainment business."
"We're very pleased that Vivi will be lending her considerable experience and digital business acumen to the entertainment sites," said Gaspin. "This will allow us to further focus our resources and have a more unified approach."
Vivi Zigler was most recently Executive Vice President, NBC Digital Entertainment and New Media. She was appointed to that post in August 2006. In this role she was responsible for leading the NBC.com digital team in strategic efforts to further connect NBC's primetime, late night and daytime programs to Internet users, while also reaching across the company to keep communication and coordination at its best. She added the NBC Universal Digital Studio, headed by Cameron Death, to her portfolio in April 2008. Under her leadership, NBC.com significantly grew both its traffic and profitability.
Earlier, the veteran NBC marketing executive was promoted to Executive Vice President, Current Programs, NBC Entertainment, in June 2005, where she oversaw the production of NBC's slate of comedy and drama series. Her much-lauded previous experience in marketing allowed Zigler an extra dimension to increase NBC's promotional, casting and story opportunities in the Current Programs department.
In March 2003, Zigler was named Senior Vice President of Marketing & Advertising Services for The NBC Agency -- and also oversaw Marketing and Advertising for Bravo. Her role was later expanded to include heading all marketing for the Bravo cable network as a member of the new Bravo senior management team.
While in the position, Zigler was in charge of overall branding and marketing for Bravo, including the successful campaigns for "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" and "Celebrity Poker." The end result saw Bravo attain unparalleled ratings peaks during her term.
In December 1999, Zigler was promoted to Senior Vice President, Advertising Services, The NBC Agency.
Until then, Zigler also served as Vice President, Affiliate Advertising & Promotion Services, NBC Entertainment, since November 1996. In that position, she was responsible for leading the Marketing & Advertising Services department of The NBC Agency, which included: the consumer marketing and special projects group for NBC, the network's affiliate promotion services department, and media planning and buying for the NBC network and media planning operations for all clients of The Agency.
Before joining NBC, Zigler was Director of Marketing & Advertising at KING 5 television in Seattle, Washington, where she oversaw all promotion, graphic design, press and publicity, public affairs and community relations for the station. Prior to that, Zigler held a number of positions at KSBY-TV in San Luis Obispo, California, including three years as Station Manager.
Zigler received her Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo.
