ABC Studios Receives 36 Nominations Including Seven Nominations for "Lost," Including Outstanding Drama Series and a Special Class - Short-Format Live-Action

Disney-ABC Television Group (DATG) captured 84 Primetime Emmy nominations, it was announced today by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. This total reflects nominations for ABC, ABC Studios and Disney Channel programming.

This year's host for the Primetime Telecast on Sunday, September 21, the ABC Television Network, received a record 76 nominations for the 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, more than any other broadcast network and increasing last year's total by six nominations. The network scored nominations in the Drama, Reality and Reality-Competition and Made for Television Movie categories. Episodes from the nominated series, as well as performer's episodes can be viewed at the DATG Emmy web site at www.DisneyABCfyc.com.

Additionally, ABC News Received 17 nominations for the 29th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards, which were announced earlier this week.

A drama series winner in its first season, ABC Studio's produced "Lost" returned triumphantly to the nominees circle with an Outstanding Drama Series nomination. The series captured a total of seven nominations, including an Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series nomination for Michael Emerson. The remaining nominations were in Cinematography for a One-Hour Series, Music Composition, Single-Camera Picture Editing, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing.

Additionally, the webisodes "Lost: Missing Pieces" also received a nomination in the inaugural Outstanding Special Class - Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Programs category.

Freshman series "Pushing Daisies" captured 12 nominations, the most of any program on ABC, including recognitions for Lee Pace in the Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category and a Supporting Actress nod for Tony-Award Winner Kristin Chenoweth. The additional nominations were for Art Direction, Casting, Costumes, Directing, Picture Editing, Hairstyling, Makeup, Prosthetic Makeup, Music Composition and Writing for a Comedy Series.

"The 80th Annual Academy Awards" received the next highest nominations after "Pushing Daisies" with nine total. Their other nominations were for Art Direction, Directing, Picture Editing, Lighting Direction, Music Direction, Individual Performance in a Variety/Music Program, Sound Mixing, Technical Direction and Special Class Program. Next highest was "Dancing with the Stars" with eight. Among the eight nominations, "Dancing with the Stars" received recognition in the Reality-Competition Category and host Tom Bergeron was one of the nominees announced in the newest Emmy category, Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program. Among its two nominations, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" received a nod in the Reality Series category.

"Boston Legal" continued its streak of series and performer nominations, receiving Outstanding Drama Series, Lead and Supporting Actor nominations for Emmy winners James Spader and William Shatner, respectively and a Supporting Actress nomination for Emmy Winner Candice Bergen. James Spader won the category last year. The series garnered seven nominations total, with the remaining nominations for Directing, Single-Camera Picture Editing and Sound Mixing.

In the Performer categories, Christina Applegate scored her first Lead Actress in a Comedy Series nomination for her title role in ABC Studio's "Samantha Who?" She was joined by her co-star Jean Smart, who received a nomination for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, bringing the series total nominations to two.

Also in the comedy performer category, Golden Globe and last year's Emmy Winner America Ferrera captured her second straight Lead Actress in a Comedy Series nomination for her role as "Ugly Betty." Vanessa Williams also received her second straight Supporting Actress nomination for "Ugly Betty." The series was also recognized for Art Direction, Casting, Costumes and Hairstyling. "Ugly Betty" is produced by ABC Studios.

Last year's Emmy winner Sally Field received another nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for "Brothers and Sisters," and previous Emmy nominee Rachel Griffiths also gained a nomination as well. "Brothers and Sisters," produced by ABC Studios, received a total of three nominations, the last for Casting.

Rounding out the performer categories are Supporting Actress in a Drama Series nominations for Chandra Wilson and Sandra Oh of the ABC Studio's production "Grey's Anatomy" and Candice Bergen for "Boston Legal."

Additional nominations for "Grey's Anatomy" include Makeup, Prosthetic Makeup and a Guest Actress nod for Diahann Carroll.

ABC's "Raisin in the Sun" captured three nominations -- for Outstanding Made for Television Movie, Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie nomination for Phylicia Rashad and Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her co-star Audra McDonald.

ABC's variety series "Jimmy Kimmel Live" receives its most nominations ever - four - including one for Original Music and Lyrics for the online hit song parody "I'm F***ing Matt Damon." The additional nominations were for Picture Editing of Clip Packages (2) and Technical Direction.

On the children's programming side, Disney Channel received six nominations, three of them in the Outstanding Children's Program category - "Hannah Montana," "High School Musical 2" and "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody." "High School Musical 2" also received a Choreography nomination.

The animated hit series "Phineas and Ferb" scored its first nominations ever, one for Original Music and Lyrics and the other for Main Title Theme Music.

The DATG Digital Media team also received recognition, with four finalists being named in the Interactive Media Programming Juried Areas. "Kyle XY: The Collective Experience" and "Lost Find 815" were honored as Fiction finalists; and "Dancing with the Stars Multiplatform Experience" and "Disney Channel Games Digital Media Event" were finalists in the Nonfiction area.

As previously mentioned, ABC News received 17 News Emmy nominations from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The 29th Annual News and Documentary Awards will be presented on Monday, September 22, 2008 in New York City.

"World News with Charles Gibson" received eight nominations. Reports include an undercover, inside look at the repressive regime in Myanmar from Jim Sciutto, a dispatch from Bill Weir in Zambia on measures being taken throughout Africa to reduce infant mortality, and two nominations for the ongoing "Iraq: Where Things Stand" series from Terry McCarthy. The broadcast also received nominations for Bob Woodruff's reporting on veteran affairs and breaking news coverage of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.

"20/20" also received eight nominations for a range of stories, including "Waiting on the World to Change," a first-hand account of poverty among children in America reported by Diane Sawyer - which garnered two nominations; Barbara Walters' candid report on transgender children; Jim Avila's three-month investigation into a food supplement some call a "miracle pill"; and Elizabeth Vargas' report on surgeons who risked their own lives operating on a soldier with an RPG lodged in his abdomen.

Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross and the ABC News Investigative Team received three nominations for reports, including a look into the underreported epidemic of pharmacy errors in America's major drug store chains and an in-depth examination into police tactics used in NBC's "To Catch a Predator" series sting operation in Murphy, Texas, both for "20/20"; and an investigation into the DP2 plane, which the military had invested millions of dollars in but had yet to have a successful flight for "World News with Charles Gibson."

"Nightline" received an additional nomination for Neal Karlinsky's reporting on an Alaskan high school football team whose formation has sparked a rise in attendance and grades amidst challenges of teenage pregnancies and high dropout rates.
