William Fichtner to Star in Lead Role as ATF Agent in TNT Drama Pilot NIGHT AND DAY; Sherry Stringfield Will Also Star
Pilot Created by Emmy Winners Joel Surnow and Todd Robinson
Screen Actors Guild Award winner William Fichtner (Prison Break, The Dark Knight, Crash) is set to play the lead role as an agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in TNT's drama series pilot NIGHT AND DAY. Screen Actors Guild Award winner Sherry Stringfield (ER, The Shark) will also star as his wife. The project was created by Emmy winners Joel Surnow (24) and Todd Robinson (Lonely Hearts), who wrote the script and are executive producing.
"William and Sherry have made audiences sit up and take notice time and time again with outstanding performances in a number of series and films," said Michael Wright, senior vice president in charge of the Content Creation Group for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies. "We are proud to have them on board for this gritty and exciting series pilot."
In NIGHT AND DAY, Fichtner will play Dan Hollister, a tough, veteran ATF agent in the Special Threat Intervention Unit, a federal law enforcement task force. In the other half of his life, Dan faces challenges as a protective and caring father and husband. Caught in both worlds with different sets of serious responsibilities, Dan must be a pillar of strength for his teammates and his family and somehow keep two sides of his life from bleeding into each other.
Stringfield will play Elizabeth Hollister, Dan's wife. Beautiful, warm and soulful, Elizabeth is both smart and talented enough to be a career woman. Instead, she has chosen to be a stay-at-home mother and is proud of that equally challenging path. Being the spouse of a law enforcement agent is not easy, yet Elizabeth seems to be very well adjusted and is, in many ways, her family's most solid emotional anchor.
Fichtner currently plays the role of FBI Agent Alexander Mahone on the Fox drama series Prison Break. He was most recently seen on the big screen in the blockbuster The Dark Night and the comedies The Amateurs and Blades of Glory. He also co-starred in Crash, for which he won a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble Cast in a Feature Film. Fichtner's extensive feature film credits also include The Longest Yard, Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down, What's The Worst Thing That Could Happen, Wolfgang Peterson's The Perfect Storm, Drowning Mona, Ultraviolet, Equilibrium, Passion of Mind, Armageddon, Michael Mann's Heat, Robert Zemeckis' Contact, Doug Liman's Go, James Cameron's Strange Days, Steven Soderbergh's The Underneath, Switchback, Agnieszka Holland's Julie Walking Home, The Settlement, Kevin Spacey's Albino Alligator, Nine Lives, The Chumscrubber and the independent film First Snow.
For television, Fichtner has played roles in HBO's Empire Falls and NBC's The West Wing. He received critical acclaim for his performance as a human-alien hybrid in ABC's Invasion, as well as for his stage performance in The Fiery Furnace at the Circle Repertory Theater. His other stage performances include Raft of the Medusa at the Minetta Lane Theatre, The Years at the Manhattan Theatre Club, Clothes for a Summer Hotel at the Williamstown Theatre festival and Machinal at The Public Theatre.
Sherry Stringfield is best known to television audiences around the world as Dr. Susan Lewis on the hit medical drama ER, a role which has garnered her three Emmy nominations and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble Cast in a Drama Series. Trained at The Acting Conservatory, she appeared in numerous off-Broadway productions before co-starring for three years on the daytime drama Guiding Light. She also had regular roles on NYPD Blue and Tell Me You Love Me.
On the big screen, Stringfield has co-starred in such feature films as Autumn in New York and 54. She recently completed filming the Sony Screen Gems feature film remake of Stepfather and can next be seen in the independent feature Fencewalkers, from writer-director Chris Carter.
