SURVIVORMAN RETURNS FOR A THIRD SEASON ON DISCOVERY CHANNEL BEGINNING NOVEMBER 7
-- Host Les Stroud Experiences Intense Temperatures, Frustrations and Challenges to Deliver a Series that Demonstrates Key Survival Skills --
(Silver Spring, Md.) Discovery Channel's host and survival expert Les Stroud is back for his third season of SURVIVORMAN, premiering Friday, November 7 at 9PM ET/PT, and airing for the first time in high definition. Viewers will find themselves immersed in each of the six episodes, whether they are comfortably slouched in their recliners thinking "...better him than me" or on the edge of their seats frantically writing down every tip.
No food, no water, no shelter, SURVIVORMAN's Les Stroud must rely on his years of training, raw instincts and sheer will to survive alone for seven days in the world's harshest environments with little more than a multitool. And if that weren't enough, he refuses to bring along a film crew, preferring instead to film the weeklong journey himself, dragging 50 pounds of camera gear every inch of the way.
In the third season of SURVIVORMAN Stroud travels the world and sets up real-world scenarios in which he must survive. This year Stroud finds himself in: the frigid Arctic tundra where he finds a clever way to start a fire; Temagami in Canada where SAR (Search and Rescue) is deployed to find Stroud; the unforgiving Australian Outback where temperatures can fluctuate drastically and water is sparse; Papua New Guinea, one of the world's least explored countries, where undiscovered plant and animal species are thought to exist; rugged Sierra Nevada as a lost hiker; and Colorado where he has to find food and water for himself and his horses.
Stroud is an award-winning filmmaker, outdoor adventurer and instructor in survival, kayaking, hiking and dog sledding.
SURVIVORMAN is produced for Discovery Channel by Survivorman Productions, Inc. David Brady and Les Stroud are the executive producers. For Discovery Channel, Bill Howard is the executive producer.
