"HUMAN WRECKING BALLS" SET TO DEMOLISH THE AIRWAVES WHEN NEW SERIES PREMIERES WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12 ON G4
Ultimate Demolition Tag Team, The Pumphrey Brothers, Marry Science With Super Human Strength and Honed Technique to Tear Apart Cars, Planes, Buildings and More with their Bare Hands
Los Angeles, CA, November 4, 2008 Got a restaurant that needs razing, a car that needs crushing, a boat that needs busting up or a lobby that needs leveling? Just call on brothers Craig and Paul Pumphrey who combine strength, science and determination to "bring down the house" in the new series "Human Wrecking Balls." The half-hour weekly series features the Pumphrey Brothers dismantling, destroying and disintegrating a variety of large objects using only their brute force. Fueled by their daredevil attitudes, competitive fire and outrageous sense of humors, the Pumphrey Brothers are out to show the world that with the right approach and enough elbow grease almost anything is possible. The new half-hour series, "Human Wrecking Balls," premieres Wednesday, November 12 at 10:30 pm ET/PT, only on G4.
The Pumphreys are far from your average brothers; for starters their combined weight is 550 pounds. Craig is a decorated police officer and world champion mixed martial artist. He recognized his gift of surviving hard crashes at a young age after falling 20 feet onto a steel construction bolt that shattered his skull. Craig was told he would never walk again but through unwavering determination he was back in action just a short time later. Older brother Paul has twice been crowned World Creative Breaking Champion, once after breaking through six feet of ice.
Craig and Paul are strategic in their approach to dismantling. For each challenge, they join forces with a team of experts in material science and engineering to review the object of their destruction from every possible angle before taking it apart, using physics and know-how to determine the most effective strategy. The brothers also entertain a little friendly competition throughout their challenges, such as who can tear apart an airplane faster, or which Pumphrey makes a better bouncer ... based on who can most successfully destroy a bar.
At the end of each episode, cameras take viewers through each destroyed item and explain exactly how the Pumphreys broke it up. What does it take to dismantle a car? Did the "Three Little Pigs" get it right when it comes to the strength of building materials? Leave it to the Pumphrey brothers to find out with their bare hands.
While the Pumphrey Brothers do all the heavy lifting in "Human Wrecking Balls," the pair regularly calls on two other people for extra support. Chad Zdenek serves as the structural engineer and destruction consultant on the show and gives viewers a closer look at exactly how much strength and power will go in to being able to demolish whatever the brothers are up against. He is a professional civil/mechanical engineer that has given structural presentations to NASA engineers on the topics of fracture issues, barring displacements, and cavitation calculation. In addition Dawn Swain, a certified nurse from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, is always on-hand to assess stunt risk and injury possibility for the brothers in each episode. After a long day of destruction, she is the perfect answer to all their cuts and bruises, ready to patch them up however they need.
Here are just a few of the destructive episodes viewers can look forward to:
Trashing Hotel California Joined by Danzig bass player, Jerry Montano, the brothers check into a hotel suite, bent on proving that unruly rockers have nothing on them when it comes to trashing the place. Talk about bad room service!
Automotive Annihilation How much Human Wrecking Ball can one American car stand? Quite a bit, but the brothers are undeterred as Paul shoulder-rams the drivers door off, and Craig crushes the roof with a leap from the top of a forklift. Got insurance?
Aviation Devastation A small passenger aircraft becomes permanently grounded when Paul and Craig get their hands on it. Come fly with me ... NOT.
Three Little Pigs The boys put the fairy tale theory to the ultimate test as they destroy three houses made of completely different materials. Theyll huff, and puff, and rip those houses apart without so much as a pair of gloves.
Office Obliteration For everyone who ever wanted to say "take this job and shove it," the Pumphrey Brothers have the ultimate office worker revenge when they ransack an office in a downtown high-rise. Dilbert would be so proud!
"Human Wrecking Balls" was developed by BASE Productions with John Brenkus, Mickey Stern and Rob Dorfmann, who will serve as Executive Producers. Jason King is the Producer and Director for the series.
The half-hour series, "Human Wrecking Balls," premieres Wednesday, November 12 at 10:30pm ET/PT, only on G4. The premiere follows "Ninja Fest 3" on Wednesday, November 12 from 6:00-10:30pm ET/PT.
